Camp Harmony

Often, family units experience the loss of a key family member: maybe a sibling; perhaps a parent or a grandparent. Each member of the family tries to deal with this loss in their own way and often need help. State of the Heart along with Hospice of Miami County and The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton are partners in a special weekend camp for grieving family members. The special weekend is called “Camp Harmony.” The camp, which is typically held in the fall, is free. Dates for this year are September 5-7. The camp offers the opportunity for family members to be free from all outside distractions and to talk openly and freely with one another about their feelings of loss. Those attending in the past are grateful for the time to focus and explore other family members’ feelings about their grief. State of the Heart bereavement specialists lead the camp.
